RECARO Profi SPG XL Racing Seats

I would say, that one of the best upgrades on my M3 E92 have been RECARO Profi SPG XL Racing Seats (sold by GSM Performance https://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/). I specifically chose XL model, it has larger belt slots, seat shell 35 mm wider and 50 mm higher

What I noticed:

Recaros keep you so well stationary in turns, that it’s much easier to control the car. Steering wheel is now for steering, not holding yourself in place.

They are lighter. Not the lightest option on market, 10 kg (Seat shell made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, GRP) plus mounting hardware. Original seats were 28 kg’s piece. So, weight saving is about 16 kg per side, total 32 kg’s.

Which mounting hardware to use? My solution (after few unsuccessful tries and errors):

• Aluminium side-mount for RECARO Profi SPG XL, Weight: 1.1 kg (sold by GSM Performance https://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/)

• Aluminum Seat Console 1.8 kg (made in Hamburg, bought from Drift Kings, Germany)

• Recaro Seats Double Locking Sliding Runners, part number 364954

Negative:

They are fixed, not reclineable. Access to the rear seats is blocked. Every problem is an opportunity — go for clubsport roll bar! Get rid of the rear seat.
